New Apple TV hits the US next week

Monday 26 October is the big day for Apple TV fans, some two years and seven months since the launch of the third generation product. It will go on sale on the Apple Store first, before arriving on shelves over the next month.

Tim Cook has promised this is no longer a hobby product and ready for prime time in the changing world of TV viewing.

The Apple TV site is hammering home the same message, that broadcast TV is dying, however it has resisted many of those calls before and even the mighty Apple seems to be struggling to get everyone on board.

As far as games go, Apple still doesn't seem to have found a major feed for high octane entertainment. There's no new list to go alongside the launch announcements of Manticore, Rayman etc. Legendo Entertainment has announced three games coming for Apple TV, with Armada of Undead, Pure Pinball and Dracula Twins, but there's no big hitter to make gamers sit up.

On the plus side, the Unity development environment will soon work with Apple TV, but games will require quite a few changes to move from small screen to large.
