New Chromecast 2.0 ups the power as Google drop Nexus Player

Google's press event this week saw plenty of new tech, with phones, tablets, convertible PCs, but the biggest star of the show, was possible the smallest device, the new colourful Chromecasts. Faster to connect and stream, its an increasingly ideal gadget for the space-poor.

The app has also been updated for iOS and Android devices, and there's an audio version to blow your music from proper speakers rather than your phone's feeble output.

There was no sign of a new Nexus Player, which makes us suspect that Chromecast is where its at, allowing people to play games on the big screen with an absolute minimum of packaging and devices in between.
