Xiaomi joins in the micro console hardware race

What's one more Android micro console in the world? Chinese firm Xiaomi certainly think there is room for one more. Targeting the $100 price point, it's Mi Box will mark the company's first official western product launch and packs enough grunt to pull off all the latest 4K content and HD gaming tricks, all powered by Android TV.

The sculpted curved surfaces of the device look smart, although there's no sign of an SP/DIF connector on the back. Otherwise it seems to mimic the form and function of other devices in the micro console class, especially the remote.

Specs reportedly will include:

Quad-core ARM processor,
Mali 450 GPU
Dolby Digital Plus
HDMI 2.0a
2GB of RAM and 8GB of storage
Controller support
