Looks like two years was too long for Apple to sit and let its Apple TV go moldy on the tree, as younger, more aggressive and cheaper players have come along in the form of Google's Chromecast and stolen its spot as No.2 on the list. If Apple doesn't get a move on and upgrade the Apple TV into a proper micro console to get some mojo back on its little pet project, the Apple TV could soon be consigned to history.
Park's survey finds some 10% of US homes have a streaming device of some kind, expected to be 25% by the end of 2015. With Roku maintaining its lead in the US (Apple leads in global sales), but Google catching up fast, and with the Nexus Player yet to take hold, with PlayStation TV helping Sony's cause, who will be No. 1 next year?
